As we start the New Year we continue to bake from "Great Cakes" by Carole Walter. The winning vote for the "Cake Slice" bakers this month went to Old Fashioned Pound Cake.
I read through the instructions and decided to take my time and follow them as instructed. I even greased my pan and lined it like indicated. So proud of myself!
The very first recipe I baked from this book I rushed through and didn't realize I had to add the sugar a tablespoon at a time during the creaming process between a time of 7 minutes. This recipe was no different. I've got this technique down and use a stopwatch and add a tablespoon of sugar every 30 seconds.
I'm sure there is a reason for the long creaming time. And since Carole Walter hasn't disappointed me yet, I keep trusting her. Let me tell you that I loved this batter! And the aroma from the cake baking in the oven was amazing! I had a slice of this cake while it was slightly warm and it was fabulous! Loved everything about this pound cake!
